Project Overview

Under a Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP)-mandated closure order, C&M Dredging served as the prime contractor for the dredging and dewatering of 600,000 cubic yards of sludge from a 56-acre, HDPE-lined containment system. Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week for 13 months, C&M deployed two IMS 7012 dredges, more than two miles of HDPE pipeline, and custom-fabricated liner guards to protect the containment system. The operation maintained a pumping rate of up to 5,000 gallons per minute, requiring careful coordination, continuous monitoring, and strict regulatory compliance.

To manage the massive volume of material, C&M implemented one of Florida’s largest geotextile tube dewatering systems, utilizing 437 geotextile tubes, automated polymer injection, and a closed-loop effluent return system to prevent environmental discharge. Despite confined access conditions, stringent safety requirements, and interruptions from major storms, C&M successfully completed the project with zero reportable injuries, zero environmental spills, and zero regulatory violations. The project demonstrates C&M’s ability to deliver complex, high-volume environmental remediation with precision, adaptability, and accountability.
